If your mom was a mortician, would you want to get into the family business?

A friend of me and my wife, is a mortician and has her own business. Lately she's been unhappy with her son (18 or 19 years old) because she wants to introduce him in her business and teach him but he's not very interested.

To clarify, her frustration is not because he specifically doesn't want to work in her business, but because he's not interested in getting any kind of job or pursuing higher education, and is currently a NEET spending all his time playing videogames.

I would be down to own it but not operate it. I have no idea what the profit margins are for a funeral home, and if I could afford to pay someone experienced to run it and still stay in the black. I’m not sure I’d want to actually deal with the bodies, haha. The dream for me is to really just bankroll businesses and collect a cut. I try to avoid “doing stuff” in a work capacity as best as I can in life😂

It sounds like your friend needs to get ready to show some "tough love" to her son.

I don't know how much the job pays in the US, but here is pretty well paid.
Mother and son both drive BMWs and have a nice home.

It varies but it pays well enough. Not luxury but well enough. Now funeral directors can make fair money
