Mine just turned 16. We have communicated over the years, they know who I am. We are close but only have seen one another a couple of times. Their family that raised them has reached their limit and wants to send the child (now a teen) to me.

Sorry I have not experienced this but it’s crazy to me that the family who raised him just “gave up” and is passing him off to you. I couldn’t imagine throwing out a child you raised, biological or not.
Maybe he’s a trouble maker (what teenage boy isn’t?) but that’s what they signed up for when they decided to take him in. You can’t just “give up” on parenting and decide you don’t want to do it anymore. Sad. 🥲 I hope you welcome him in with open arms.
No. It's been 42 years and no contact.

I have not been reunited with birth child but I know a family where child sought him out. It too at least 6 months until it became a more comfortable setting.
