It's nothing but a selfish feeling, I know a few people (some are family) that have a down syndrome son/daughter, and their lives revolve around them. They cannot go to social events, they cannot enjoy holidays, they can barely save any money... Is like their life is over.
And they live in constant fear that the child is going to escape, or hurt himself, or hurt others, or break something. Last month a down syndrome teenager visiting a relative in my wife's hospital threw her dog against the wall and killed it, you have to have a thousand eyes on them.
I don't want to live like that, I have no reason to believe I will, but just the fear that it could happen terrifies me. How can I overcome this fear? I tried talking with my cousin who has a child with this condition and I only felt worse afterwards.
I'm sorry if this question offends anyone.
