People who have given birth what is something you wish you knew before hand that nobody told you?

Something I was never told and isn't really all that talked about, and these are all the things that happened to me.

How much fluid leaks when your waters break and how long it can last for. My waters were still breaking more than 4 hours after they ruptured. It honestly constantly feels like you are peeing yourself and you have no control over it at all.

That even when your waters break, it doesn't mean contractions or labour will even start. While my waters ruptured, I unfortunately wasn't able to ever go into natural labour on my own, so I needed to have an induction

That epidurals can and do fail and they have a limited amount of times they can try to insert the needle.

That inductions are seriously painful if the epidurals fails because the contractions come very fast and back to back with almost no breaks in betweens.

That for some their labour can be a very slow process and can last well over 15 hours.

Something else is that while 9 months may feel like forever it really isn't all that long and to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible especially towards the end because that is when the time goes super fast especially if baby decides to come early like my baby did.

I don't know about anything unknown obviously but I do know that the weight gain and the uncertainty of how much that's going to be counts right? 🙃
