How would you feel if your s/o asked about having a baby?

My s/o and I have been together for 5 years. He knows I don’t want children because I just don’t think I’m fit to be a mother to a human being. He ‘a never pushed to have a baby and said himself that he respects it and also doesn’t want to have one. Tonight, however, we were cuddling and he placed his hand on my belly and asked if I ever thought about us having a baby. This totally took me by surprise and now makes me feel like he’s going to resent me for not wanting children.

Don't have kids until you get married.

I don’t care about being married or not. He’s definitely my lifelong partner, I just don’t want children period.
