I'd be straight up about how brutal the music industry is. You can audition, and be better - rapper, singer, instrumentalist, all of the aforementioned - than the others, but they don't care because you don't have "the look" and the shortcomings of the others can be fixed in the studio. But I'd also assist the person as best I could.
