If you had one, what was your childhood theory about how babies are made?

Mine was that all girls are born pregnant and once they're adults, the baby starts to grow. I thought very seriously about it, and that seemed the most logical solution, and it genuinely made sense at the time.

When my mom was pregnant with my sister she told me that the baby was growing in her tummy. She also showed me photos from a book.

About how the baby got there, I was aware that this needs some cooperation between the mum and the dad, but I did not wonder about details.

As a child of 1970s Germany I was not exposed to stories about storks or similar nonsense.
