We'll be your friend, brother. In the interim, what do you like doing? Join a club related to it. What do you want to learn about? Same thing. Any causes that are important to you? Volunteer there, then segue that into a job. I do a lot of 5ks up to marathons. See a lot of the same people at many of the big ones actually. The pre-race/after-race expo can be a great place to do so.
Tell us more about you. Actually answer those questions and we can explore specifics of them, but if you just want a "shoot from the hip" answer that's it.
