My friend gambles, looses money then always asks to borrow from me; I’m tired of it now: what should I do?

I really wanna tell him to go to hell but I can’t actually say that lol. It’s so annoying now tbh. He’s been gambling on and off for years, i don’t think he’s addicted to it but he often looses quite a bit of money. Every time he looses he’ll get so sad about it and it’s almost as If he wants me to pity him. He whines and complains as if it isn’t his doings. He says he’ll stop but never does. He often asks for money borrowed and I gave him a couple years ago, he returned it eventually, but I can’t lend him anymore. I’ve been turning him down multiple times but he still Asks and says how money is tight and he has bills to pay etc. He has a sugar mama too by the way haha, but he hides his gambling habits from her. What should I do?

Tell him you don’t have it, let that be your response each time he asks from now on, then maybe he’ll get the message and stop. I don't know if you’ve already told him to stop asking, but there’s no incentive to do so when he knows you’ll still stick that money in his pocket. So show your seriousness with actions and if he questions the switch up, tell him your friendship is not a financial transaction and you are not a bank to be loaning money all the time.
