kind of a vent i guess, because i just had someone be surprised that my parents and i aren’t “disappointed” in my bisexual sibling? who the f*ck asks that? current year, man.

Yes- but FOR them, not in them. And no, I don't suck; I'm just aware of what the world is like.

I think you'll agree with me that it's not as egalitarian as it could (or should) be, and that while most differences have both good points and bad, the comparative treatment gay folks get is worse in pretty much every differing respect.

I've seen firsthand what that's like, and while there IS glory of a kind in opposing it, it's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

No of course not. My sister's also in LGBT+, as myself tho not exactly for the same reasons. We have 1 parent not disappointed or disgusted by us. And as far as siblings, well we have each other lol. Which is a bit of a slimdown from what we started with but whatever. It's still more than a lot of people are left with, unfortunately. 💔💞

It depends on specifically what it is and how they handle it. If it is something gender/identity related, then there's a high chance. No parent wants to lose a son or a daughter. However, my main concern is that they are a good person and go about making decisions with a good mindset.

It's not even about the beliefs that my child would have in regard to their choices, but that they go about them wisely. By being prepared, patient, self-aware, empathetic, and thinking about how it'll impact them long-term. I do not want them impulisve, blindly divisive, and not thinking independently. This just goes for my child/sibling no matter what if they're straight or LGBT.

This is coming from someone who has a sibling who is a transwoman. I'm not a huge fan of it and have mixed feelings, but I never put it on her.

Not really, although I'd miss looking for a date with them etc.
Society is built up in such a way that it's just easier to find partners if you're not.
And if they're gay etc they'd have to find partners in specific communities where I probably wouldn't go much, other then with my theoretical sibling.

That said, my actual siblings are way too old for me to have experienced any of that anyway...
So yeah...

I do not know if disappointed is the right word. It might make me sad because it is still hard to be different ant it would only make his/her life harder. I would love and support him /her and try to make sure he/she live the best life possible

If they go full sjw with it, I would be very annoyed by them. We live in 2023. The year when these weirdos claims they are comming for our children, the year were a vtuber got bullied to quit her job because she dared to play a Harry Potter game, the year that weirdos expect you to accept drag queens because "you have been entertained by drag" yet they themself refuses to use the same argument to defend actors using makeup to make themself look browner. 2023 is not the year this group has made a possitive impression.

would never be disappointed but it would take getting used to if a family member was trans or non-binary etc, sexuality is easy to accept but gender takes a little while longer for me to wrap my head around especially because i haven't been exposed to differences in this way

Yes. But there's hope. I met my wife at the Christian straight camp I volunteered at. She was put in by her parents due to a lesbian relationship she had been having with her cousin. With prayer, exercise, aversion therapy, spanking thearpy and electroshock therapy she heard God's call. We are married with kids now, tremendously happy
