For them to look at your application and approve you for adoption?
I know they have to make sure a baby or a child is going to a good home, but I just don't understand why it can take up to 5 years in some countries to approve your application for adoption.

I'd rather they take their time to make sure the potential parents aren't just doing it for a free paycheck from the government. I do also wish it would be more fair to lgbt couples and single parents. You really have to jump through hoops in those last 2 cases.
Id say yes. The process is very intrusive to your home life. Back ground checks, finger prints, home visits. Which I understand why they have to do it and I respect it, but it's a very long detailed process. Did it twice and then not to mention, you have the waiting period as well. We did domestic adoption
