Sister in law rarely smiles and doesn’t make an effort to converse , spending time with her is becoming difficult?

Sometimes my husband wants to us to go out with his sister. I don’t think she is a bad person. However, if we go out she often sits, rarely smiling. Very occasionally she tries to make conversation with me. I try to keep things upbeat and speak to her but it’s difficult when she doesn’t seem majorly interested. How should I handle this? Should I just keep acting the same way?

Why are you trying so hard? If her personality isn’t to be upbeat and talkative, then that’s just who she is, so you shouldn’t take it personally. If not engaging and talking a lot makes you uncomfortable then that’s your own issue to work through. But if I were you, I wouldn’t let it phase me anymore. Let your husband deal with her for the most part and if she strikes up a conversation then cool, you can do the same here and there. Just don’t go out of your way, that’s basically what I’m saying.
