so about 2 weeks ago, me and my mom planned to do my hair (put in faux locs) on August 13 (today) as i’m leaving for college on the 17th. the 13th comes and she’s MIA for most of the morning (she didn't tell anyone where she was going, even though we planned to do it in the morning) by the time she reappeared it’s after 3 and she has to cook dinner for my older sister had come from out of state for the day. mom tells me that’s she’ll start my hair after she’s done cooking (mind you my hair is already washed and ready for her to start). well 6 rolls around and my dad leaves to take my sister to the airport and my mom leaves to take my other sister back to her apartment. she says she’ll be right back but hours go by (my sister live 5 minutes away). she then call me at 8 to ask me a question but doesn’t come home. at this point it’s 10 and i’m getting ready for bed when she walks in smiling like nothings wrong. the first thing i say is “i really don’t appreciate when we make plans to do something and you completely disregard them” she starts making excuses like we can start now (this is not the first time she’s disregarded me). i get upset and of course she tells me to stop yelling at her but i haven’t even rose my voice. eventually, i don’t that it’s not ok that she’s does that. which ends up having her say “we’ll that’s how i feel when you guys don’t do what i say”. how does that equate to what’s she’s done? i don’t understand. it gives me such anxiety when i plan something and people completely disregard the plan. what’s the point of the plan? what am i supposed to do?

What's to navigate? Say the hell with it, or go to the salon, or have a friend do it, or ask your mom if she can actually commit to doing it. I understand you are angry and disappointed, but parents are not perfect. Often times our parents will hold us accountable and expect us to act more responsible, respectful, and proper than they themselves do. When they do not live up to that standard we as their children are extremely frustrated that they did not lead by example and hold themselves accountable. When I was a teenager my dad was flakey as fuck. It was just something I had to learn to live with. I'd tell him I didn't like what he was doing and that it pissed me off, but there wasn't much else I could do. I know hair is important to a girl. I can't relate to hair problems, but I can relate to being disappointed in a parent. I don't think most inconsiderate parents try to intentionally make their child feel like they don't matter, but sometimes their actions will make you feel like that because their head is up their ass and they aren't paying attention.
i wish this was something i could do. unfortunately this hairstyle isn’t something i can just go to an random person for. it’s too late notice to get an appointment and even if i got one if have to drop about $300 i definitely don’t have to drop on hair. i definitely feel like i’m not payed attention too enough. they forget about me way too often
