My mother is his 2nd wife and he was 42 when mom gave birth. He has 2 sons with his ex wife and I heard he used to be stricter with them, applying tough love. When I (now 21) was born, his sons were already 19 and 21 years old, they moved out and were living in college. Both already have their own kids by now.
His reminds me of how the character Rhett from Gone with the Wind treated his daughter Bonnie; spoiling her, being the chilled, relaxed parent and rarely saying no. My mother was the stricter one and he wasn't. Is it age that soften him up?

He has had sons, you are a daughter. Men are very gentle and soft with their daughters
My dad has always been gentle to me, he loves my brother to death, but it’s a different type of gentleness when you’ve got a daughter.
You're right. Very true indeed.
Yes maybe, men often tend to chill out as we get older,
Interesting. If only my half brothers would've been born much later, he would've been relaxed with them. I was told he cried out of excitement when holding me for the first time. He never had a daughter and doesn't have any sister either, only 3 brothers.
Sounds like a great guy!!!
I would say yes men mellow as they grow older
If only my 2 half brothers would've been born much later, he would've known his softer version. He loves us equally but different treatment for sure. While both are his legacy carrying the family name and were made into strong men, dad still sees me as his little girl.
Even though I'm now 21 years old and in college.
Yes and I am a father of 2 sons no daughter, you are precious to him I can’t speak from experience but I imagine it would be different I would definitely love a daughter and possibly treat her differently
You guessed right. He has 3 siblings and all of them are brothers. So yeah before I was born, he didn't have a daughter nor sister to grow up with. When I was born and he held me for the first time, I was told he was crying out of joy.
I think I might have cried too it’s so special when a child is born and a baby girl? Yes indeed
