so i had a fight with my best friend and they went back to the person who was toxic to me in order to get back.

Yes, by one of my best friends from high school. It hurt, but I just moved on. Sometimes he would have difficulty in life and reconnect, but after he was on better footing he would find some reason, presumably not approving of decisions I made in life, to distance himself from me. There was really nothing else to do than leave that friendship in the past.

If you have anything for which to apologize, do so. If not, the ball is in your friend’s court and it is up to you to decide how much you can trust this person if they try to be your friend again. Be assured that time does tend to help with this sort of thing. It will bother you less a year from now, and much less five years from now.

Not exactly. I'm pretty Good at putting myself in someone else's shoes and understanding thier motivations. Have I been let down by friends before? Yeah. But when I've looked back at all the evidence it made sense why they did it. I'm a realist I EXPECT people to betray me. Is it disappointing? Yeah. But after you live long enough you're really not surprised by ANY human behaviour.

I'm sorry you were betrayed by your best friend. Those normally hurt the worst.

I've never been in that situation but just remember that if your friends betrayed you then they probably truly weren't a good friend. Don't waste your time or energy on them. There are better people out there.

completely cut them out of my life blocked on forms of social, phone email etc. though i have gotten smarter never tell people where i work or live unless i know they are ride or die

I am too selective so no. From minor friends yes but those were minor friends for a reason. And the 2nd answer is revenge or apathy, and learn to trust no one like them again.
