Would you cut off a friend without warning if they are negative and complain about everything?

I have a friend like that. Almost every one of his friends cut him off, except me and one other person. And I'm really close to doing it to. If I do it, I'm going to tell him.
His behavior is really getting on my nerves, and I'm a pretty chill guy when it comes to annoyance. He drove all of his friends away with his behavior. Constantly complains about something, that he put himself into. Deliberately starts a verbal fight with almost everyone, and won't admit when he's wrong, or you tell him it's his fault.

Well another thing is I’ve been single focusing on myself and some personal matters and this friend encouraged me to text this guy who lives in my apartment building to ask him to come over. Such friends are bad influences that’ll stunt your growth. It’s important to find people who are aligned with your energy.

I did this recently. He wasn’t being negative but I didn’t feel I could be myself around him. I felt like I was just appeasing him in the friendship, I couldn’t have a real conversation with him. It’s more my fault and how I was changing to why I stopped hanging out with him. I think I’m at a point in my life where I’m done people pleasing and shape shifting just to make people feel comfortable. I don’t think he’s a bad person or anything, I just outgrew the friendship for lack of a better term.

If it's a close friend you can be sure I'd sit down and have a talk with them first. Try to figure out what's currently going on, where it comes from. I've cut off negative people before because I don't like that attitude. It's toxic and ruins the little things in life, so I wouldn't have a problem if it would become overwhelming. If it's just one of many friends with whom I'm not close at all, I'd just let the contact face out and be done with it.

I have lots of friends like this and it’s not something that really bothers me because I have days where I’m like this as well. If they start complaining about people and saying really nasty, un called for things, or talking about me then maybe but it’s not really something that affects me personally.

Well, I would just send them a final text before ending things (if online), if it is in real life then I will tell them once to stay away from my life before ending things.

I'd probably have taken the long, slow route of lessening contact until we just drift, though.

Absolutely not... What's the point of friendships if we can't recognize errors in our characters and work to correct them?

That being said, friends who constantly give off bad energy should be avoided because that energy slowly but surely will influence your behavior.

Tell them about their bad behavior and watch to see if they change with time. If they don't, I think it's time to find a new positive friend.

Yes, but I still give them every opportunity to get thier s*** together. If it's reached the point that I'm having to cut them off then I've exhausted every avenue of salvaging it already, and there reaches a point at which I am just DONE!

Well if you're not afraid of being upfront then tell her that she needs to calm her ass down and needs to stop getting mad if you take too long to reply. If you don't want to be confrontational. Just block her and never look back. Eventually she'll get the hint

I think I’ll just block her. She gets angry at people easily like short fused. Talks badly about friends she’s had before. I think she’s kind of jealous of me because she’s much older and says how guys don’t want her but they’d want me and stuff like that. I just leave feeling bad for some reason.
