What would cause a person to suddenly withdraw from everyone or a certain group (coworkers, friends, family for example)?

It can be a lot of things. They could have some kind of mental disorder that is acting up and is giving them a hard time. I’ve suffered from depression and it can do a number on you making it hard to maintain social relationships in general. That person may have experienced a loss (death or end of a relationship for example, loss of a job, etc) that may make them withdraw. Maybe they even got lost in a hobby, found a new religion, etc. New relationship/friendship. Etc etc. It is hard to say as it can be so many different things

This is what I did before relocating to a new country. The reason is because they had caused me a lot of pain for so long. Everyone is selfish, self-centred and just using me either as an atm machine (borrowing money), punching bag for their misery or free therapy. I mean I can help them as a family member and friends but it is all one sided. Nothing was give and take. It was always give (on my side) and I got tired being walked all over.

It could be for any number of reasons:
Maybe they got tired of not being heard in a group, they felt like no one really cares about them as a person or what they think.

Maybe they felt like they were a third wheel just being used for the life of the party and to make other friends look good.

Or could be that their mental and emotional health is on decline for reasons no one else really knows about and they're just starting to stay within themselves.

The reason was the people themselves.

Family saw me as too ugly to fit in the family dynamic.

Never actually had any real friends or friends at all. It's pretty impossible to talk to me because my face makes them unxo

Coworkers don't normally come talk to me because people tend to talk to me because my face makes them uncomfortable.

So I retreated from the public eye.

I have anxiety, ADHD, and maybe some minor from of co-morbid depression because of those two.

I also have a stressful as fuck job and many additional activities.

Sometimes I just need time alone. Sometimes I fall into a bad state for a while and I limit my time with others to recharge.

But it's individual. Not everyone needs the same things.

My boyfriend who recently died suddenly from taking meth which could have been laced with Fentanyl. Who knows. He sure was acting totally weird for a couple of months before he died suddenly.
Please don't take street drugs. They have prescription medication for ADHD and anxiety. Please get some help.

There’s so many factors and possibilities, everyone does things for different reasons. There’s no one size fits all.


I recently stopped replying to people I feel I outgrew but it wasn’t so sudden in my mind. I needed some peace. I felt so obligated to have to reply to people reaching out all the time for pointless things. Not only that but I feel like these people were like energy vampires and I didn’t feel good around them so I dropped them.
