I'm 30 years old and I've never lived alone. I'm worried I will be lonley or hate it. Is it worth it?

So I've always lived with other people, be it at uni with students, an ex boyfriend or sister or brother.

I've managed to save enough money to move out of my family home. I'm 30 years old, and I'm looking at finding a boyfriend. Im 30 and want to look for a life partner. I'm hoping having my own environment will allow me to meet a guy I can eventually settle down with (do the whole marriage kids etc).
I'm excited to host at my house, cook and spend evenings chilling alone.
I WFH and need confidential space so I'm also excited at creating my own office space.

Anyway, my question is, it'll be the first time I live alone. I've been pretty much alone the past 2 years of living with my bro, so I'm used to my own space. However I want to hear others stories of how they found this. Success stories on living alone reflections etc.

Also keen to know if its embarrassing that I don't live alone at my age?

I'm hoping I will find myself again and truly prioritise my career. As I am due to apply to train in a career in psychology.

Does anyone have any stories or advice?

Well you're about to live alone, so that embarrassment will become moot. If you find yourself lonely go engage in society. Join a swim team. Volunteer at the local animal shelter. Do charity races (I'm a big fan), get a season pass to the museum and attend their symposiums on... whatever you're interested in. You'll not only meet people, but people with similar interests. Don't just waste your time online talking to randos that you'll a) probably never meet and b) don't have as much in common with. You'll be fine. You'll probably love it.

The first time I lived alone I had nights were I was terrified and moments of complete paranoïa about someone stalking me or trying to break in. There was a little bit of dog hair from the previous owner and I was so sure it wasn't there before and that someone paid me a secret visit (with a dog? Lol) Ok maybe my case was a little extreme but apparently it's common and nobody talks about it. If it happens to you make sure to talk to people so they can reassure you. At some point you will get over the socially conditioned fear and shame of being a 30yo single woman and you might even realize that 30 isn't old and that people are just that stupid and fucked up. You're going to love living alone after some time and you will treasure that freedom and space for yourself. You say you want to find a boyfriend but you might end up being VERY selective of the men you invite into your space. Don't worry you're going to be happy.

I think it depends a lot individually. You might love your family but not want to be under their supervision always. Especially when it comes to sex it is best to have independent living for both you and your parents.

Some people are driven to independent living and some are less so. In your decision don't see it as something you need to tick off a life bucket list.

It can be a little lonely at first but that is also a good thing. I like my solitude but I am a guy and I think it can be a bit different for girls. I am more effective just because of living by myself.

The top of the list on not so good points of living alone. You are the only wage earner. You must be able to save some money for those occasions where you are unable to work.
Other than that. It can be relaxing to not have another person around.
You probably shop alone now. Hopefully you’ll be living in a safe neighborhood. Where you are able to get outside from time to time.
I know that it is harder for a woman to go to a restaurant and eat alone. Than a man. But after a while. It becomes second nature.

It can be tough initially, but it gets easier over time, to a point where if you aren’t careful it can be a bad thing. It’s important to not become a hermit and to force yourself to socialize regularly.

I feel like I will force myself out. For jogs. Walking breaks as I work from home. I'd probably pick up a second job or volunteer too

You should be very proud of your accomplishments and so what you got a place now that’s all that counts I worked my way up from nothing I bought a house my ex and son live there now I fell again worked my way back up from nothing living in my truck until I had enough to buy another house I’m a plumber by the way have confidence

I couldn't imagine not living on my own, it's expensive, but you can do whatever you want, whenever you want; Without even having to think about your privacy.

Some people like it, some don't. It's not weird that you're 30 and don't live alone yet, it's expensive. When my parents first moved in together in 1967, their apartment cost something like $50 a month. The same apartment is going for $3000 a month now.

It's always rough to leave something you got so use to. But then there's that independence and freedom. I love my privacy. I get too much of it yes. But having everything my way at my place is fun. I'm kind of my own castle. But it would be nice to meet "the one" to spend the rest of our lives living together.

You have your independence, you can come and go as you please, have people over, decorate to fit your style.

Most of my life has involved in not sharing my premises, and I do prefer that, as I do what I want when I want it. When divorced, I was devastated by being alone, but I got over that.

There is no degenerate threatening or attacking me just because they feel like it. Or them watching movies with flashing screens at 2 AM midnight, which illuminates the entire room. Or making loud noises.

being considerate is a pain in the arse.
by the way psychology isn't science its a fairytale,
