My father is super abusive, both verbally and physically... I believe he is narcissistic af

I come from a super Conservative family

Growing up and until uni he would hit me, but now that I have graduated he threatens to but doesn't hit me even if I challenge him to hit me

Why the change? Why doesn't he just hit me like he did before?

Ps: I can't move out because culturally it's not allowed and I am not financially stable enough to move out right now

You are right it didn't but now it did because he doesn't want to distance you from himself. Lots of girls end up running away from home and he knows it too. The more harsh he will be the more you will think your current love interest cares about you. So, he won't do that. He doesn't seem dumb at all
