What does thanks giving mean’s to you

Thanks! You, too but, mine's just another day of the year, now.
When I was a kid, there was this old guy that lived 2 blocks away from us. His kid, Bill, was dad's best friend when they were little. Bill grew up, got married and moved to Florida and then his mother died in the mid `60's so, any time we had a family get together, we'd invite Mr. Fay up to have dinner with us. Sometimes, we'd invite him for dinner even if we were just having a big roast any other Sunday of the year if we felt like having him up.
Then, there was this skinny little guy, Tom O'Malley, everybody just called him, Murf, sometimes, Poor Murf, that was my aunt's best friend. We always thought she was gonna marry him. All he did was drink, smoke, gamble and live the life of a river rat on his boat. Again, every time there was gonna be any kind of family tadoo, we'd invite him, partly because, he hung with us so much, he was like part of the family and partly so we could get some food into him once in a while instead of his constant diet of booze and smokes! He was so short and skinny, a good fart could blow him a few feet away. But, he was VERY funny!! He SHOULD'VE tried doing stand-up!! Sadly, he drank himself to death! He took a bath, one afternoon and a friend of his came over to see him and found him dead in the tub spitting up blood.
Another of my aunt's was friends with her boss Mrs. White, and she would also get invited to eat with us a number of times. She was also single.
Anyway, the point is, why don't people do that, anymore?

As for Thanksgiving it doesn't mean much to me as it is not celebrated here and don't know a lot about it, but would definitely love to know what that is.
