Trending & News Loneliness doesn't discriminate, you know? We're all out here craving real connections, even the seemingly super social ones like myself. But sometimes, plans fall through, friendships drift, and you're stuck staring at your phone, wondering what the heck to do. I use Joiner (app) now and its been a game-changer. Think of it as the ultimate upgrade on your friends' group chat. No more planning headaches, no more awkward pauses wondering where to hang. You see your friends' houses pop up on your feed? Boom, you're in! Movie night at Sarah's? Board game brawl at Matt's? Impromptu BBQ at David's? It's like a treasure hunt for good times, and you get to choose your own adventure. A real game-changer tbh.
Being single and lonely, the single part is not the key item, if a person fails to keep friends, they can rapidly become lonely even in a relationship. Women are naturally open to each other in groups, men are not and can be happily married but have no male friends as they have alienated them. If the guy is single, then he is truly alone.
You'll often find community schemes aimed at helping lonely old men but few directed towards women. Men tend not to put much effort into maintaining friendships while woman will constantly natter over little things. Have you noticed in mixed groups it's always the women who arrange meet ups or know what everyone else us up to. Men drift apart as they age.
Not from my observation.

Generalizing, I think it's both older men and women. Naturally as you age, there is less and less opportunity to freely socialize with people in your age group. When you are younger there is always some social event you could attend, or some gym you could join, or events just geared to younger people to 'get you out of your rut.' They even advertise all the time on the radio, but when you're older, I think there is the assumption that you're married and settled and have your friends, or that older people wouldn't want to participate in such things that would bring them more opportunities to socialize. And of course, when you are really up there in your 60s+, a lot of the people you normally would socialize with start literally dying and getting sick, so you may find yourself very lonely not by choice.
The older a man gets, the more bitter and twisted he becomes if he is single. You can see plenty of evidence of that on here.
Haha. Why is that? What about older single women?
It's very individual dependent. Loneliness is an emotion and some people feel already lonely while others would feel overwhelmed with attention on their place.
Older single men.
