Music and generally all entertainment. A lot of greats have passed away from most all sports. Football 90s better… basketball 90s better, WWF now its WWE.. 90s was better.

I miss action, adventure, and thriller films with straightforward and suspenseful premises like Speed (1994), Total Recall (1990), T2, Die Hard 2, The Fugitive, Universal Soldier, Blade, The Matrix, Demolition Man, Starship Troopers, Braveheart, Stargate, Jurassic Park, Heat, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys, The Game, Soldier, Falling Down, Leon, Lethal Weapon 3&4, etc.

Also the 80s.

It seems like from 2000s onward, most films started to grow increasingly heavy on exposition and lore with increasingly complex premises. I didn't really realize the difference except that I wasn't into nearly as many films until I saw Dredd (2012):

Then I thought that movie was totally awesome but it seemed to me like an 80s or 90s action film made in 2012 since it has such a refreshingly simple premise: "One judge, one rookie, trapped in a building full of gang members seeking to kill them."

Why can't we have more movies like this anymore? They're so straightforward and fun!

Kind of like the evolution of The Matrix films. The first Matrix film was very straightforward. "What is the Matrix?" It's so incredibly suspenseful. Then there's this incredibly sense of danger each time any Agent walks into a scene like, "Holy shit, everyone is fucked! ESCAPE!" Helicopter: "Batatatatatatata!" bullets flying everywhere. Kung-Fu training, "Wow, that was awesome." Do we take the red pill or the blue one?

But then the sequels started getting so convoluted and heavy on the exposition and so relatively lacking in suspense.

Architect: I am the architect. Ergo, hitherto, blah blah blah, assiduously, concordantly, blah blah.

Boring! Then I see Neo fighting like 50 copies of Agent Smith and he's not even in danger. Where's the suspense?

And to me that's like the diff between 80s and 90s films with most of the 2000s+.
