Why do my mom get upset when I call my children by their nicknames?

Me and my husband call our kids mousey and butt butt... my mom gets so upset with me and she says there name is pumpkin and turtle.. not mousey and butt butt.. she gets extremely mad over this and it's not a big deal... it's just random cute nicknames we pick. Why did she get mad?

If my mom and dad called me mousey or butt butt or even turtle I wouldn't like it. My dad does sometimes call me pumpkin though, which I think is sweet. Those nicknames are horrible 😫
