I'm one of those who might have always been at risk of having my brain fall out, trying to entertain so many different viewpoints at once and trying to find the legitimacy to all of them.

I'm a diplomatic type and very conflict-averse so I always try to look at ways people are right and not ways they could be wrong, more ways to agree and fewer ways to disagree, since I figure we're all human at the end of the day and most of us couldn't be all that bad.

These days I might be closing a bit more but only because my values have been cemented more deeply. When I was younger, and especially before I married and took on the greater responsibilities that I lacked being a bachelor, I was really exploring even the very meaning of right and wrong. I invited a lot of needless trouble doing it. After marriage, I really started to at least get a more concrete grasp on what I should be striving towards.

I didn't always put much stock into MBTI, but I really do seem to fit into most of the stereotypes of the ENFP (including the embarrassing weak points):

One of the bizarre aspect of my childhood is that I am originally from Shizuoka, Japan, but in the process of growing up, my parents moved all over the place and I lived in various parts of Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and various parts of the US growing up.

That meant constantly being not only the new kid school in school but having to adapt to brand new cultures, new languages, completely different fashion trends, ideas of what's cool vs. lame, ideas of what's polite vs. rude, and even, to some degree, ideas of what's right vs. wrong. Each culture varied to some degree on this and so I had to learn to adapt to each one to fit in even remotely well.

So I had to keep a very open mind and I had to be very flexible and constantly willing to change my views. I wouldn't have survived otherwise. Yet it took me a very long time to arrive at a reasonably concrete set of values for myself as a result since my values had a tendency to change all the time.

I agree with you on this. Being multi cultural in a way that it's brought upon you because of circumstances does make you more flexible, accepting and open minded than your average person that's always lived in the same place all their life. I too moved multiple times between two countries throughout my life and I can grasp this concept!! Thank you for sharing!!

I'm not gonna lie. I think I'm open minded, but I have strong opinions held loosely. I'm pretty set in my ways for the most part, so it's really hard to change my opinion on something unless you can destroy my opinion in terms of logic. It has happened a couple times before when having debates with my friends.

I’m open minded to a point. I do have strong beliefs and convictions that I’ll never stray from but I definitely don’t push them on people or think less of people that don’t share them. I have very good friends that are shocked that we’re actually friends! 😂

I see my self as an open minded person with prejudice. Like anyone with one iota of intelligence. The mind is open. The guard is up. I'm still fully aware of what the snakes do. I'm not running through the woods worrying about bunny tracks I'm looking for wolf and bear prints because I know what wolf and bears do.

Depends on the subject. I consider myself largely open minded but with a strong set of values and morales.

So I won't judge you. But don't ask my opinion on something unless you're prepared to possibly hear something you won't like. I'm not a yes man. You might not always like what I have to say, but you'll never have to worry about where I stand. And I prize loyalty. So when you have a friend in me, you can take that to the bank.
