I'm closed minded to people who claim to be open minded verbally, because that's the FIRST cue in my experience that what they REALLY are, is a mindless bot who follows every stereotype in the book. To wit, I was in Austin during the Mark Conditt bomber saga. Had the whole city scared shitless. Explosives going off left and right. I was in an HEB store in line, with 2 people right in front of me 1 day... there were still no suspects or even a description. 1 of them in front of me said, "It's probably 1 of them Muslim guys." What a FKN TYPICAL BRAIN DEAD American MORON. I got annoyed FAST, and replied, "No, he's not. I can tell you EXACTLY who it is. He's likely under 35, White and above average intelligence and formal education. He's either ex service or with an educational background in the hard sciences." In a city FULL of well off yuppie hipster types, these idiots think that some Paki with a turban is setting trip wires on public roadways and NO ONE NOTICES? No. He blends in, he DOESN'T look out of place, so he's DEFINITELY not that guy. Mark Conditt was finally found, and what was he? A 23 yr old White guy who was an ex college student in the hard sciences from an upper middle class family. Americans buy into every stereotype SO FAST their brain cells have literally been vacuumed out.

I'm open minded if someone can make a reasoned, compelling case for something (as in... your arguments are able to be backed up by evidence, that we can agree... comes from a trustworthy source. Not goddamn Youtube videos)

Otherwise I'm pretty closed minded. I know what I know. And if I'm wrong, you're going to have to make an argument to explain/show me why. If you can do that, then I will alter what I think accordingly.

Being open-minded has led to every conspiracy theory infecting society all over the world. I do not see open-mindedness as the virtue I one thought it was.

I’m not sure. I’ve been both before. For the longest heavily closed minded. Especially for certain subjects. Then became more leaning to open minded as I wanted to increase more info, but then was difficult to keep with opinions and pick a direction in thought and follow things through to learn thoroughly what works and doesn’t.

Even when I was super “closed minded” I still was curious and liked to see what people said about things. So I’d say filtered and balanced.

I could try taking some self assessment on it to be 100% sure or at least more accurate, but I’m sure it’s more than likely just balanced. 👍

I would say that depends on who you ask and what we are talking about. I'm open minded, but I still have my opinions that I hold passionately. I say I'm open minded because I'm always prepared to change my mind. But I've lived almost a half century now. I know what I believe and why. And I'm not going to change my opinion unless you present a worthwhile case.
