Am I in the wrong for throwing away pizza because the cat got to it?

I live with my mom. This dude, and his girlfriend moved in several days ago. They're pretty nice. I whent downstairs early in the morning, and I saw two pieces of pizza on the ground, and a plate on the counter, so its obvious the cat pulled it off the counter, because she's done it before. I figured they wouldn't want a pizza that a cat ate off of. Also it way laying on the dirty ass floor, so o threw it away. I just whent downstairs when the guy was downstairs, and he asked me if I know what happend to the pizza, and I told him what happened. He said "okay", and whent upstairs. I heard them in the bedroom, and he was like "he threw away my pizza!". Am I in the wrong?

Did it exceed the 24 hour rule? For me when food drops on the floor, it's fine and okay for 24 hours as long as we pick it up before that time has elapsed.
