Why do my family abroad give me a hard time that I don’t talk to them as much?

I used to visit them a lot when I was a student but this is because I had a a lot of time off since students get 4 months off in the summer. Now I’m lucky to get 2 weeks during the summer and I work 10 hour shifts. My brother hasn’t talked to them in years and he doesn’t seem to get involved in this drama.

If I understad correctly, both you and your brother dont talk enough with your family but only you're getting drama and evryone is ignoring the brother's absent?

I'm a student as well with a messy relationship with my family. I truly believe if you really really want to talk to them you can make time to have a short conversation with them.. I think they'd appreciate even 5 minutes of chech in especially since they live abroad and can't just come over anytime.

There's many way to connect in todays world.. zoom, messenger.. if your short on time you can also leave them voice notes they can listen to.

Ignore the other comments, she doesn't know you situation, and you can be greatful for your family and still gave issues with them.

You should be grateful you still have that family. Some of us don't.

Do you know her family? No. Do you know how they treat her? Nopp. You can only give advice on ehat she's told you. If you have or had an amazing family that great for you, but you can't asusme all family's are filled with love and have healthy relationships. Thats not the case for evryone.
