I was 10 years old. My cousin’s great grandma passed away and her little brother came for a funeral. He had red adorable cheek and blue teary eyes and nobody in the whole house, nobody was sadder than he was. My little brother, who was 8 years old at that time, asked me sympathetically
“Who’s he? “
“He’s her little brother.” - I told.
And he got his eyes teary and hugged me.
To this day, I’ve rarely ever seen eyes sadder than that.
That moment made my little brother and I appreciate each other much more and It was a very painful and a heartfelt moment for us too.
He empathized that little teary old man because he lost his big sister and I empathized and felt hurt for him, to imagine that someday in a faraway future my brother might have felt the same pain in his eyes.
I wanted to go and hug him.
