I keep having these weird dreams- I need advice on what they mean?

So I’m 21, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t want kids and don’t plan on having any ever. But lately I’ve been getting these dreams where I’m pregnant and I’m either about to be killed or someone is coming after me or I’m pregnant and I’m super happy about it and so is my dad but my mom isn’t. Either way I keep waking up and holding my stomach because they feel so real, and it’s starting to scare me. I really want to know why I keep dreaming of being pregnant and being safe or hurt. Could someone please help me and explain.

As for why you're having them, based on what you said there's a few possibilities:

- Even if you consciously don't want kids, on a subconscious level your body may be preparing for that possibility since you're at an age when women start having babies. So your dreams are working through what that would look like. Don't freak, just your brain doing its thing!

- There could be worries or fears about your fertility/health that your mind is symbolizing through pregnancy in the dreams. Maybe see your gyno just to ease any anxiety.

- Some of the dreams have your mom disapproving - could be you working through your feelings about independence and what she wants for you vs what you want.

- Or maybe it represents anxieties about a big life change coming up in general, not literally being pregnant.

I wouldn't read too much into the specific imagery. Dreams are weird! But remember your decision is what matters most. Talk to close friends if it's still bothering you - sometimes just saying it out loud can help you process. You've got this girl!

No worries at all! Dreams can be so weird sometimes, I know they'd freak me out too if I kept having ones like that. But honestly try not to overthink it - our brains are just weird when we sleep sometimes haha. As long as you feel sure about not wanting kids when you're awake, that's all that really matters. Maybe watch a funny movie or show before bed to get your mind off it. And if the dreams don't quit soon, you could always try keeping a dream journal too just for kicks to see if you notice any patterns. But really I'm sure it's no big deal. Feel better though, yeah? Maybe there's no real meaning, unless your mind has changed on pregnancy, if not then they are most likely just meaningless dreams
