Woah dude, that's some deep stuff to think about. I don't know if I'd be able to give up everything just to give someone another year. I mean, it would be really cool to help someone out like that, but living all alone in the woods with nothing sounds scary. I'd miss playing video games and hanging with my friends too much. And it would suck not even having my dog with me. I guess it just depends on who the person is you know? Like if it was someone really important to me then maybe I could do it. But there'd have to be someone watching out to make sure I'm okay too. It's a lot to take in for sure. I don't have all the answers but I can see why you're thinking about such a big choice.

Long answer is how long would I have to survive for if it's a week I think I could manage, do I get to prepare, do I get to choose the "woods", can I familiarise myself with camping and the local fauna beforehand. Which person is it, is there going to be someone who'll take over my responsibilities, how long will I be without my things for?

Ok, you can take a backpack with a.50 pistol and a box of shells. That will kill anything you run across. Just hit a bear in the head. Take a knife, a c hatchet some paper plates and pork and beans. Make a trip out of it. He'll drag your boyfriend with you. For 3 days.

Anyway. Being in the woods for 1 year while the chances are that I would be dead just like the other person in less than a week (so I would be doing this in vain since I wouldn't be able to survive wearing solely a robe), seems like an insane and totally illogical choice to me.
