I made plans at the beginning of this week with my friend. We agreed to go to the city to this comedy club, and I had just enough money to pay for it. I didn't forsee that a direct debit would be coming out of my account at the end of the week though, and this company charged me twice leaving me with no money. I also don't have a job yet so don't have a steady income.
I realised the morning of the plans that I have no money left in my account because the company charged me twice. I rung my friend and apologised because I have to cancel the plans. I couldn't afford it. She said no worries but now I feel like an AH. Am I a bad friend? What can I do to make it up to her?

i have a friend that that happened to, i absolutely understood. it's okay! really, it is. when this happens, i just offer to pay for her lunch (whatever we're doing). it turns out fine. financial issues can come up unexpectedly, especially in this economy.
you can always make it up to her by rescheduling for another day. it's really okay, she understands!
you can also just pick an activity together that doesn't require spending any money. board games? watching some tv shows or movies at home? bake some cookies together?
