My friend expects me to cancel plans with other friends to hang out with her?

My friend is my best friend. But she expects me to cancel plans with other friends when she wants to hang out with me, on the basis that she’s “better than my other friends.” Even if I made my plans ages ago, she tries to convince me to cancel on them. I find this to be unreasonable. What can I do?

Just say, "no" and stop arguing/debating it with her. The more you talk to her about it the more she thinks she has the right to make demands and whine. It's like if someone walked up to you with a water gun and said, "give me all of your money or I'll shoot". You'd tell them to F off.

You need to tell her how you feel. A true friend would not pull such crap. She is very jealous of your other friends.

I believe your commitment should be to the first person you agreed to spend time with and not to your highest social priority in life and if a friend cancelled on me when they do not have a medical emergency, I would consider them disrespectful and reject their friendship.
