Do Father's need more respect from soceity?

My deadbeat doesn’t. Was lazy and never helped around the house even tho both my parents worked, spent all the money him and my mom saved on alcohol, cheated on my mom several times, abused my mom and both his kids. Stole from a friend of his. Made his kids and the mother of his kids seem like horrible people but he was the abusive, neglectful, manipulative, narcissistic person.
Men like this man don’t deserve shit. This deadbeat will end up alone with no family, no grandkids around- just alone because of their actions.
Someone like my stepdad, he’s amazing, true dads, blood or not, are the ones who deserve more and showed more love for sure.
Goes for mothers too. Can’t pull out the “but I’m your dad!” Or “but I’m your mom!” Card when you feel like it. Respect is earned. We’re all adults. They don’t respect me well then guess what.

They get a whole day. What more respect could a father want? In seriousness... Respect is earned in any and all environments. It is not something given freely.

Speaking only about my own deceased father, I still feel as though it's common when growing up with said father. Dads don't care about themselves or passing down values. Then the dad becomes resentful when nobody cares about him, but he can't even care about himself.

What can a child give to a father that is worth giving? The most powerful breadwinner of the household? A mug, a funny tie or shirt? How about polishing his shoes as a youngster? Rounding back up, unless your father has a personality that cares about himself and has a level of self-respect, there is nothing for a child or family to connect with.

I can only give a fuck fixing the TV by pushing the input button at 3am to respect a person so much.

Giving more respect to anyone is always a nice thing to do. But whether or not something "needs" it is entirely dependent on functionality. If fathers are functioning well enough to complete their roles as fathers with the current amount of respect they're receiving, then they don't need more. And if not, then yes they do. But these things have a way of balancing themselves out. It's a slow process mainly taught in developing stages. So, entertaining the possibility, any newly found, actually impactful respect for fathers will likely be revealed in the coming generations.

I understand and appreciate your feelings here, but we protect and provide for our children because we know it's right. We don't need external validation. And we get used to be shit on constantly. That shouldn't deter us.

Then, there are certain groups that get a ridiculous amount of praise for doing less than the bare minimum as fathers. I don't see it helping increase that groups' efforts as fathers. Or else maybe I say the respect and encouragement is necessary.

Yes and no. Just Being a father isn't enough to get respect, it's how you raise your child that matters. Sadly father's in society tend to have she shitty one's on blast.
