What would be your answer?

A friend of mine asked, how would you survive if you jump from a high flying plane without a parachute?
I had no ideas so I said the first thing that came to my mind I said "by not jumping out of the plane". He started laughing and said I was an idiot.
What should I have said?
And what would you say?

I think it is chance based on physical resilience and terrain.

But something I thought would be kind of neat in an action movie is if like a ninja has their swords tossed out of a plane. The ninja knows they will be tossed out next and so dives off the plane after his swords. He catches them and then spreads them out tilting them down at opposite angles and begins to spin due to the wind resistance. He spins faster and faster until it feels like his arms are coming out of ther sockets but keeps at it until he is close enough to the ground. Then he reverses the tilt angle and struggles to keep his swords flat. A woosh of wind as all the angular momentum he stored up smacks against the air slowing his descent just enough to survive the fall. His shoulders will have sustained more damage than his legs, however, so he will have to spend the next few scenes recovering.

I know someone who had their first parachute fail, along with the two back up emergency parachutes...
She survived the fall and they didn't think she'd move again. Today you'd never know what happened. She went through a lot.

Yes. Speech, movements everything. As if nothing happened. This was twenty years ago and she's one of those detail people, so it was not without lacking effort to be where she is now.
