Yeah. Those pills are used to alter the hormonal atmosphere within our bodies.
Male hormones are naturally produced in biological males and female hormones are naturally produced in female bodies. So if left alone, we will naturally start looking more like our biological sex assigned to us at birth.
Taking hormones artificially would change our hormone balance to that of the desired gender (or at least that’s the intention).
It’s in our blood. XY chromosomes versus XX chromosomes. That can’t be changed, no matter what surgeries you have had. Males and females are different down to the DNA level. And thus, naturally produce differing hormones.
Also, complete reversal will never be possible. Like if someone has been on hormone therapy for 10 years, starting at an early age, most of the changes that took place will remain. But given enough time (e. g. Male to Female) they may start growing natural facial hair after they have stopped taking hormones for a long time.
I’m not really sure about the answer to this question but I would have thought yes.
Biological women or people who are born in girl bodies have ovaries and that’s were they produce estrogen from.
Transwomen don’t have ovaries because they were born in boy bodies.
Exactly. And someone with ovaries is going to produce a lot of natural estrogen than someone without ovaries. And it’s the same with testosterone. Someone with testicles will produce much more natural testosterone than someone without testicles. Without artificial hormones, their bodies will produce the hormones their bodies would normally produce. Unless of course, they had their ovaries or testicles surgically removed too. In that case, I’m not sure how much their internal hormonal balance would be affected.
Anything naturally is always better when it comes to the bodies
If the gonads are removed, then both hormones will be so low that your life is seriously threatened. You NEED these sex hormones to survive and function. You will need to supplement either estrogen or aromatizable forms of testosterone which can keep up adequate estrogen levels... or estrogen + non aromatizable androgens... for the rest of your life.
Another part is the receptors which are more important than the hormone itself. There's no doubt that men and women have different chromosomes, and because of it, it's very possible that their receptors act very differently. We already know that the same hormone can have a different effect across different mammal species.
I continue to amaze myself with the power of the niacinamide supplementation. I started trying after seeing studies of it increasing DHT induced androgen receptor expression, and I shit not, upon taking a quarter a spoon (i aim at 1 gram, shouldn't be toxic under 5 gram per day) of the niacinamide powder (form of vitamin b3) from a cheap sports supplements brand... it really makes me physically energized and mentally clear. I swear it works for me... I expected only the physical energizing part obut it makes my head clearer. So.. any men reading this give niacinamide a try.
Not exactly.
You can do research on microdosing HRT if you want to explore more about this.
But HRT in either direction will have slow and gradual changes to the body. Stopping taking it won't "reverse" anything, but it will no longer create conditions for changes within the body in the same way.
Yeah it will, seriously. Like, you know how bodybuilders may gain 20 pounds of muscle on a good cycle of AAS, but oftentimes once they quit taking it the natural testosterone production takes up to a year to catch up to 100%... and after a month of quitting they lost all their muscle and strength gains. If not more, losing what they had before starting the cycle.
Yes, even those who take prescribed post cycle therapy stacks, still often lose 100% of their gains. Some more advanced techniques combine the PCT estrogen blockers with growth hormone secretagogues and such to simply PREVENT THE REVERSAL of the muscle gained, which is tricky. Heavy doses of the most expensive myostatin inhibitors and what not are required just to spare the muscle while your natural T levels take time to normalize.
So if FTM stops taking testosterone, she will lose the muscle even faster than men lose after quitting their cycle use, because most men natural T after cycle can still be up to around 200ng/dl which is still far higher than natural females have.
Similarly, men who are castrated and produce no testosterone will have low estrogen too because in order for a male to produce estrogen he needs to have high testosterone levels that can then get aromatized.
So if MTF stops taking estrogen, he will have low T and low estrogen and that's a dangerous condition, you better supplement one or the other for the rest of you life.
This isn't a simple question to answer, but generally, yes. Most people need to take hormone therapy continuously to retain their typical gendered traits. This is without assuming they've had any surgeries done to permanently feminize/masculinize their features.
