What is your opinion on platonic cuddling?

My wife and I had a few friends join us for a weekend at a lake cabin, and one mentioned being deprived of cuddling. My wife suggested that I cuddle with her. There was nothing sexual about it, just holding each other while sitting on the couch by the fire, while the larger conversation continued. It honestly felt kinda refreshing.

We've a word for platonic cuddling "cwtch" it's probably the most well known Welsh word outside of Wales as it appears on a range of tourist tat.

You might cwtch up with the dog on the sofa or with the kids to watch TV. In the same way you'll cwtch up with your friends to watch a movie. It's not considered sexual.

No I don't do that and I kind of think its weird tbh. But I used to find hugs weird and uncomfortable too, even saying "I love you" used to feel like I was lying even to my parents or family members. Now that I have dated I am used to these things and don't find them weird but I still reserve cuddling for boyfriend's since I don't like to be that close with anyone I'm not fucking, since I have never been a touchy feely person or liked people in my space unless I liked them romantically.

I want to like platonic cuddling with people outside the close relatives category, that is in theory though. When I read the example following your question, I do start feeling embarrassed because, in practical terms, cuddling is something I associate, unwillingly, with physical intimacy which then leads to sexuality so... Ugh, I would not have liked the situation you described haha

I've known this friend for 18 years, we met freshman year of college, like the second day. If something was going to happen between us it would have happened a long long time ago. She and I are very close friends.

I’ve had/offered platonic cuddles a few times, usually for a long lost friend or family member after a long meal. There’s usually a pile of us in the living room chatting or playing a board game at the moment. I’ve never done it one-on-one in an isolated setting… it would probably be awkward.

Personally, no. I reserve that for my significant other as I find it very intimate and special. If my s/o gave me a pass to cuddle another person because of the same reasons, I would not do it because I respect them too much to do that with another person. But I understand every couple and each person is different. As long as you both consent and are okay with it.

I have a female cousin that's like a sister and when we get together at family gatherings, we'll cuddle by the fire. When we were young and had sleep overs, we would cuddle on a couch, watch a movie and do each other's hair after a while. Not a big deal but I don't think I would do that with a guy I'm not dating.

I don't think it's right, outside of the context of a serious tragedy. Like, if my wife died in a car crash, I'd probably want one of my female friends to come over and cuddle with me. There wouldn't be anything sexual about it. But if I just did it right now, it would definitely be weird and feel sexual.

I never hugged my friends only my father, grandfather, grandmother and my mother, any else family member never any other persons never either. I don't like physically touch. It gross me out.

As for me, speaking generally, I'm picky about who does it and. With some people I like it, with others no. I used to have random strangers and teachers touch me, but I don't say anything because I don't want to be rude or get a bad grade. This one old teacher in high school would always walk up behind me and put his hands on my shoulders. I'm also very picky about people's nails and some areas of my body are also very sensitive

@KostasKouvalis Feet I don't mind that much it's more like upper body I don't like, usually older women like to put their hands on my thigh to show support and I don't mind it, arms around my should is ok but anything else I don't like.
I'm not used to it. In my family we aren't physical at all.
For teacher I didn't mind it that much because I know there's no utter motive in their move
