How do I deal with feelings that my mother had postpartum depression?

My cousin had some postpartum depression. I asked my mother whether she had had this expecting to get a firm no instead she said she didn't think so. That made me feel as if she is hiding things. I understand that such feelings as hers are natural, but it is still difficult to deal with.
