How can I get rid of unnecessary items in my house?

My family and me lives in a big house with lots of items. Most of the items are unnecessary. It is very difficult for us to throw them away. Moreover, we are constantly buying new things. This has become a disease. How can I get rid of this? I want to have a house with few items, tidy and clean.

Have one or two trusted friends come over and help you decide what to keep and what to get rid of.

Experts recommend putting things in 3 categories: keep, throw out, and donate/sell.

You can have a garage or yard sale to sell things in the third category. If you don't want to go through that ) it does take work), just donate it all to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, etc. Some will come to your place and pick the stuff up.

What is harder than doing all these is deciding to get rid of these items and starting to work on it. When I want to throw away an item, I can't throw it away thinking that I might need it for something else. This is where the problem starts.

Yes, but their belongings are also disturbing. As a family, we are disturbed by having so much belongings.

I'm a hoarder, so I know what it's like. The only way I can get rid of stuff is if I give it away.
