I wouldn’t be upset at the kids for doing it, a lot of them are just copying what they see on tv. The responses to it are more of an issue, all those “Oh! What a little flirt!” Things like… it’s a child, you’re a full grown adult, sexualizing him before he’s even aware that puberty exists is a little gross.

I remember being afraid of accidentally coming across as winking to a girl in the hallway I never spoke to and fearing she would think I liked her. I’d have crud in my eyes constantly from allergies, tears, etc. so I’d wink / blink and so I had that social anxiety…. My mother / father didn’t disapprove of it, though I was insecure.
