How do you act excited about your birthday gifts from your friends?

My birthday dinner party is tomorrow night. Four friends are going. They’ve all got gifts. How can I seem excited, when I generally prefer giving to receiving?

In today's society, it should not be difficult to fake a smile, to pretend to be happy to receive a gift. I am pretty sure that there must be tons of videos and clips on the internet how to pretend to be someone, how to fake some feelings. Just go over those videos and learn from them.

However, a fake smile is easily detected from a genuine one. Learn how to position your lips and the wrinkles on your forehead that appear when you have a genuine smile is also an indicator whether you are sincere or not.

Be bubbly and make comments like "oh that is exactly what I wanted for a long time. How did you know it was what I desired?"

Those are the kind of emotions you have to show to fool others into believing that you are truly grateful and happy.

I actually liked all my gifts for the first time ever and didn’t have to act. I felt quite humbled and overwhelmed by all the attention and gifts. I’ve got two more coming soon, I’m told.

Try to put yourself in their shoes and be excited for their efforts and that the gift is an expression of their love for you. If you're not sure what to say, just say, "Wow, thank you so much."
