Lmao. Usually do, haha. But even the hardcore Republicans weren’t such fucking animals that they voted for Trump, we’re an educated family. I never thought I’d see the day when my dad would vote for a Democrat, haha. And my aunt, who’s usually the one who will just bluntly ask “so who are YOU voting for?” while we’re in the middle of a good time, wrote in Dwight Eisenhower as her vote, after bailing on RFK Jr when he decided to hop on Trump’s dick. We’re a very political diverse family, but I’m really happy to report that everyone is at least smart and decent enough to see through the biggest con-job in the history of America, run by a despicable human with a crew of equally-despicable cronies.
That wasn't the issue for me as i wasn't interpreting their language at all, so if they were loud about something (e. g. Christmas, birthday parties), i didn't understand one word.
My "death warrant" has been made the moment i was born and the execution began when i was 15 years old. Forcibly relocated. Starvation to the point my skeleton was visible on my body, diseases and medical conditions, abuse, no home but being a guest citizen so to say, language barriers, extreme poverty.
Fights on only 1 day, that is on Thanksgiving seems in comparison to what I've been through a "sweet dream". Still I wouldn't put myself in these environments either way.
kinda?
my dad's side doesn't really celebrate. my grandma and i just chill together or we might go to our neighbors who are chill
when i lived with my mom if it was just us then it'd be just my step-dad complaining about people and you knew to be quiet around him, BUT if we were with his side of the family then yeah there's people fighting lol
I have cut ties with them except my sister. Now I only talk to her. I grew up in a very toxic household. Eating out? Fight. Going to church? Fight. Christmas Eve? Fight. Family gathering? Fight. At the groceries store? Fight. Family trip? That’s even worse. We never been to any as a family because everyone was miserable. I am the happiest person now.
Me too. Toxic to the core.
@DrPepper12 Glad you chose your mental health.

no we're too busy eating lol
I'm an Australian , no Thanks giving , but if there were the answer is Yes..
I hated it , and in hindsight it always ruined Christmas and special events , such conflict is not healthy.
Yep happens on Christmas too
Yeah , I hated Christmas evening , this is when it all started.. Driven by my mother will all her bullshit , she'd fight " devils advocate " to create conflict. One year we had a massive fight over the use of the word " Ladies " , in the end all I could was get drunk and try to ignore them all..
I have 3 sisters and 1 brother , in these times it was extended family from there , I hated it..
So I started do other stuff in the morning , I honestly can never forgive her for what she did , just ruined the season.
Omg so sorry to hear about that
@Unit1
Oh yeah mate , 5 children ( I'm youngest by 8 years ) , once my Dad had his car accident ( he used to tape the fights on reel to reel ) she was left with no check or balance , Irish heritage , and fck me off would go some ridiculous " yelling debate " , If something was yellow , she'd argue it was blue just to start a fight.
Took me half or more of my life to get away from this sht , and even know sometimes I find myself gravitating towards it , she would say my brother was " drunk " ( I reckon he's been drunk twice in his entire life , he very rarely drinks to this day ) that would make him angry and bring him into the fight , I have a weird brother in law who is like a smart arse academic , so there was all of that , then a sister who is same as my mother ( she visited Thailand , what a disaster that was ) , too hot , too this / too that , this guys on the spectrum etc etc , pool water too hot , food not as it should be , blah , blah , blah..
So , to find the Thai way , sabai sabai , where its rude to confront , or even leave a bad review , took much stress out of the equation , to learn meditation , and to try and release myself from all that conflict , and to see families that actually genuinely LIKE and support each other.
A blessing..
Only bad thing is too many stupid old farangs who complain , mainly from UK ( sopmetimes Australia ) .
Man, I don't get this part in humans on a very basic level. Being cut off from resources (income, money, being on welfare if you're lucky enough), where do these insolent losers get their energy from to make dramatic yelling contests out of nothing? Were I in this position, the very first thing I would do is get myself on a new payroll opportunity until I go to sleep and repeat it on the next day, not waste it to damage not only myself but also your family members and making it like its their fault. This is akin to be stranded on an island and the survivors begin arguing and fighting with each other, not building shelter and foraging food.
My mother was just like that. Losers!
For me by 22 years old I began living alone but still within the reach of my parents. Shortly after turning 27 years old I have escaped the horrendous country, that they dragged me in to (when I was just 15 years old back then) and since then I am out of their reach and I do not speak to them.
They made their beds, now they rot in it.
I voted for calm. My husband and kids don't start fights.
The crazy family I grew up with was miserable and holidays were only worse. I was always the first to volunteer to pick up any and all shifts on holidays at whatever job I had. "I have to work," was always the best excuse to get out of those family gatherings.
We always had a rule on Thanksgiving, well actually for all our family get togethers.
No talk about politics or religion.
It worked, most of the time.
My house is full of rule breakers so that wouldn't have worked haha
If people are going to fight might as well stay home and celebrate alone. Why celebrate with toxic people? No
Exactly why I don't go visit anymore lol
Yeah. Can't get through a holiday without a few disagreements.
Now the fight is between my wife and her sister about whether anatomically correct terminology for genitals is appropriate for kids to learn, after my son said "vagina" during bath time with his cousins.
Nothing wrong with the word vagina. It's where the babies come from so kids should know it
Exactly. Plus if much rather he say vagina than pussy or worse
Of course it is. Nose, toes, chest, wrist... They all have names. Call it what it is
Jesus Christ Ma, this meal tastes like liberalism!!
Can't fucking wait!!!
Haha I see you are the one starting the fights 🤣
My younger sister is gonna lose her fucking mind🤣
Omg let her have a peaceful meal. My older bros are the same way trying to mess with me 😭
How was that pumpkin pie?🥧 was it good would you please give me some
It was delicious 😋
I can’t recall a holiday that there was no fighting at all lol
I decided long ago to remove people that can't respect others have opinions straight from my families lives. They are not worth the effort it takes to socialize with them.
We all sang in the Thank G0d Trump was elected choir. Real Thanksgiving.
No, you have to set all that aside on Thanksgiving.
Yes lol my siblings and mom which is why I’ve spent Thanksgiving and Christmas at my home for the last couple of years
No, my family almost never fights on Thanksgiving.
We might have had an argument or two on Thanksgiving over the years. For the most part, we all got along.
Thanksgiving is a time for everyone to put their differences aside. (Plus my family is always calm anyways.)
There’s usually some arguing on Thanksgiving with the family over politics. This year, though, the ones who voted for Kamala all canceled at the last minute so there were no arguments at all.
No. Probably helps that we don't serve alcohol on Thanksgiving.
No, my family are pretty peaceful and quiet.
we don't do that... lol
Depends on the guests tbh
I would start a fight with you about how dr. pepper is mid
Ouch. I feel like a turkey now... 😁
Ohh can someone fight during celebration and festival?
IM SPENDING THE HOLIDAY ALONE
You can fight with yourself
No political agenda
Aren't you a Trump support?
I don't get into politics lol probably from the family trauma
*pats your back* I understand I am sorry you had to go through that. I hope you enjoy your time with your family this year if not please do self-care and try to stay calm.
My family used to fight in New Year’s Day
I have no family so it is not a problem.
Always politics 🙄😂
For real it's the worst
And sometimes they just bait you…
Actually not hahaha
That makes me glad I don’t have family!
