Why do people want twins?

As someone who’s siblings are twins but don’t have one myself, I’ve never understood why someone would want twins. Having a baby is hard, even more so when you have twins or triplets.

All my life I’ve heard “oh you had twins? You’re so lucky” or how much better twins are or things like that. I’ve never understood why people are so fascinated by them. Don’t get me wrong, I love my siblings but I’m curious.

When my wife was expecting our son she miscarried his twin - fraternal, not identical - at around 7 weeks. Because we were older than average - mid-40s - we knew we weren't going to have another chance and the next two weeks until he'd developed enough to be sure he was still there were nerve-wracking to say the least.

He's 6 now, and he asked last year why he didn't have a brother or sister so we told him what happened. Now he sometimes looks very dejected and says he wishes his brother or sister was still here.

I think although there's complications in having twins you don't have with a singleton, there's huge benefits as well. Several of my friends are twin parents. None of the children have had socialisation issues. They've learned teamwork - sometimes to the parents chagrin - early and they've been support for each other.

Mostly, I think people who want twins want the cuteness factor of two babies and don't understand what they are getting into though.

My wife and I had twin, a boy and a girl, it is a lot of work to care for them and you need a good support system of friends and family to help. We actually got annoyed at people stopping us in stores as we shopped, so we decided to split up the shopping and we each went different ways with one child, otherwise we never got our shopping done, as they got older around 10 she got taller and they looked different ages and the fussing stopped. They now are 22 and each has there own career and doing well, the do have a special bond between them and to this day one knows instinctively when the other is in trouble even being 200 miles apart. I was trying at times but I don’t regret a single minute

Yeah, I get what you mean! Taking care of one baby is already a challenge, so having two at the same time must be a whole different level of chaos. I guess people romanticize the idea of twins—like having a built-in best friend from birth. But the reality is probably way more exhausting than they imagine!

I work in the field where stalking is common I've had people follow me after work because they could not get their prescription out of me but you know what I did I started following them while they were looking for me I was following them. And how can I stalk you You are in a different country. I like your opinions It's a different perspective from a different culture but some similarities I can connect with. I don't know how it works in your country I can assume that they're strict but in my country the cops don't do s*** You have to protect yourself That's why we have a second amendment here.

In Qatar, the rules around safety and security are strict, and while things can be different compared to other countries, the focus is definitely on protecting people. It’s always interesting to see how each place handles things. Safety really depends on being aware and making smart choices no matter where you are! but here i mean stalking is as my laptop is giving me non stop notifications and i found that its by uhh.. well thnkx for the likes

No I'm just fast when it comes to replies I get text messages from my patients sometimes if you don't respond within a minute or 5 minutes they may have jumped off a bridge or something So I've learned you've got to be quick at least in my business I don't know what you do for work. And I've learned to look at people's profiles on here some people here are certifiably nuts or some kind of AI bot.

I don't know about intriguing but one of the saddest things is 70% of my client load is drug addicts and the hardcore I don't know what the drug situation is like in your country but over here it's pretty bad It's like full-blown hybrid version of The walking Dead. I remember when the cops called me to talk somebody off of bridge because they were getting nowhere and I said they haven't jumped yet They said no I said that's a good sign That means they want to live so I told That person it takes balls as I'm looking over the ledge ( It was like 10 stories high) to jump from this height so within 5 minutes I was able to put the handcuffs on the guy have the police put him into inpatient care for a 48 hour hold I rolled with him in the ambulance I think in the month he was able to get out and get his affairs in order we helped him get housing out of state and away from his toxic family lifestyle as far as I know he's doing okay. Yeah I'm very passionate and very deep and hardcore I remember I was on a date and I was reading her body language and I asked her Do you want to f*ck she was flabbergasted and then she looks at me and around and she says yes I said okay let's go for it. I don't recommend you take that approach but I mean 50% of dating that's what it's all about is trying to Get some it's human nature. Yes I know I'm pretty crude with it but I don't like to play games.

No it's not The strange thing is I work in Appalachia Now the biggest thing was always tobacco and illegal alcohol followed by extreme poverty lately it's been fentanyl and tranq and meth. The community is devastated It's like smallpox hit or something. And the healthcare in the next 10 to 20 year is going to be something unspeakable to treat all these people When the physical ailments start to kick in. I looked it up and your country is a transit point for drugs even though it has strict regulations. The world is crazy. We use computers to help us with patience They go on before they have a session to help the process.

I don't know I don't like the way we're going I would say if I was you get trained in weapons but the problem is for what I know your country has strict regulations on weapons especially civilian ownership. My next advice would be pretend you're a cop like you have eyes in the back of your head It's easier to spot trouble and cross the street road Then to walk into trouble. I would say get a dog but in your culture they don't like dogs unless you run a farm and the last time I check your country is kind of small for farms mostly condos and big buildings a cat can spot trouble but a dog can get you out of trouble. I think it's possible that we are declining.

Now let me ask you a honest question that you're a medical student What throughout history has killed more people bullets, bugs or dick (sexual activities we can't blame men It goes both ways)? @Cuminginside yeah, safety is definitely something to be mindful of. We do have strict regulations, so weapons aren’t really an option, but being aware of my surroundings is always a good idea. And yeah, dogs aren’t super common here, but I get what you mean. Hopefully, things don’t keep declining, but who knows!

But if we’re talking history, I’d say bugs have probably done the most damage—plagues and diseases have wiped out entire civilizations. Bullets and... well, the third option definitely have their impact, but I think germs take the crown. So, what does that say about me?

That you don't have sex on your mind You have facts on your mind Yes bugs are number one statistically anyway I disagree but AI seems to agree with you second one is bullets and arrows warfare does get people killed and then the third would be sex It's hard to quantitate the statistics of complications of pregnancy that turn fatal violent reactions from family members about your sexual activities and infidelity again family members and don't forget STDs or STIs or whatever they want to call it. That's how AI ranks it I think sex has gotten a lot of people killed throughout history but apparently that's on my mind. So you're definitely medical going with the bugs and I respect that there was a movie I think it's called Apple cider house rules and with the husband of the house he was a fighter pilot bomber And he was shot down over Burma now they call it myannor and being shot at crashing the plane did not kill him a stupid mosquito that gave him Japanese encephalitis put that man in the wheelchair could barely even feed himself anymore. Can you imagine that surviving all of that for some stupid bug to bring you down possibly into the grave. That's why the real warriors are the medical people to go out and neutralize these things. A lot of soldiers get scared because they might get killed during combat and I tell them look at the medical person wearing a space suit who holds a vile of smallpox that if it cracks it could kill everybody in the building and even then some although technically measles and chicken pox are far more contagious but still Oh yeah measles is coming back it seems like in this country.

And true, medical people do fight some of the scariest battles—no weapons, just science. Also, measles making a comeback? That’s actually concerning. People really underestimate vaccines,...

I personally think there's something wrong with a vaccine I've gotten booster after booster and my blood test comes back unequivocal so I don't know what that's all about but I know an old school trick give the kids vitamin a when they have the sickness. I've learned from living in these mountains You go up against mother nature you're gonna lose!

I don't know the vaccine used to work maybe people are taking some kind of drug that are interacting or making the vaccine less effective but it being a live virus vaccine has more side effects That's why people don't like it

Just occurred to me that a lot of people probably do some number crunching before going in on a baby, and finding out you have twins coming must logically double that. Seems like a ton of pressure on the parents financially.
