Why do people usually want more than one child?

It seems like it makes more sense to dedicate your time and effort all to one child and that it's also easier

The only child thing just seems really sad so I cannot imagine doing that to my kids by only having one. I get if its a money, health or infertility issue that a couple only wants one tho. I just always wanted a big family as well so thats why I have 6 kiddos
