Once you graduate and move, do your high school classmates usually tend to forget about you?

Ever since I’ve moved I don’t tend to talk to classmates anymore, when I try to reconnect via social media it’s usually very short or they don’t wanna communicate at all. Do people usually tend to distance themselves from former classmates when they move?

Life takes precedence over high school friendships. It's just the natural progression of life. It's not that you stop being friends. It's that the circles you run in change. You go to college that takes you away from your friends (especially if it's out of state). You embark on a career that takes you away from your friends. You get married and raise kids and that takes you away from your friends. Each thing makes more and more demands on your time, leaving little if any time for old friends. And it's not personal. Again, it's just the natural progression of life.

but these, I count with my hand... and I had a TON of classmates from schools so it is impossible to keep track of all of them, I really don't know what happened with many of them but I still get to hear from many as well, and this happens from time to time

we have not forgotten about each other, we just don't keep in touch that much... they have their own close friends and I have mine, that's just how it is... lol

You become friends with someone based on time spent around them, not with them, but around them. This is why making friends in school is so easy, you’re always around a group of your peers. When you get older and develop your personality more, you find that friends made via proximity are not the same as friends you make with real connections.

Yeah they tend to be distant most know where I live and I know where they live but we just take different paths I’ve seen them in public before although it was a very small conversation we had and it’s like once in a blue moon we’d meet in public a High School reunion was hosted by a former classmate and nobody went sometimes I’d just check social media how they’ve been doing and some of them got married, others are locked up, others haven’t changed, and others perished into the other world
