I hardly drink and went out with friends tonight and got super sad after…. Literally cried in our Uber and my friend had to hug me.

I have in the past but thats if I drink a lot of Everclear and already feeling depressed, but I don't drink enough alcohol to feel sad and I'm no longer depressed.
Alcohol often feeds off of how you're already feeling. Like a few months ago, if I had drunk it, I would have been super sad and probably depressed but now if I drink, I'll probably be a happy drunk.
But sorry that happened. That sucks. I hate when that happens to me. Alcohol is supposed to make you feel good, not sad.24 Reply- 16 d
Yes I was so bummed out I was just trying to have a fun time

Again I'm sorry. I've been there though. It's so not fun at all.

16 dNot me, I tend to get goofy and flirty. When I do want to drink my wife usually will make the drink for me and she will add extra alcohol just because she gets a kick out of seeing drunk me. It also doesn't take too much to get me buzzing as I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinking.

@Ez-Bri-Z_v2 yes, you are a fun drunk I bet.
When I drink I make absolutely sure that I stop drinking when I start to feel just a little bit tipsy. The border between being tipsy and plane out drunk is very small.
Alcohol definitely makes people way more emotional. I learned at age 16 that getting drunk can make you extremely emotional. The father of my best friend celebrated his birthday with their whole family and I ended up punching him because I got out of control. Still regret that moment 🙄10 Reply

Never. It usually gets me pretty hyped up. I hate drinking around people who gets sensitive and sentimental, sucks all the fun out. I usually walk away and chill with other people IF I came with my group of friends that they can babysit that person when it gets to that point 😂

You've been going through a lot... so yeah.
When i go for drinks I'm usually super silly.
But if you are literally going through a lot and stressed, drinking can bring out emotions you've been bottling up.

318 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Just the opposite. I start dancing on the tables and having fun.
I only drank alcohol once and got that way because a coworker had the bartender add vodka to my Fuzzy Naval which was my signature drink or plain orange juice.12 Reply- 15 d
@exitseven
That is a true story. After work one Friday my coworkers and myself went out for drinks.
I clearly remember that I was wearing my little black dress that was pretty short, black pantyhose and black heels 👠👠 that I took off when I climbed on the table and started dancing.
The bartender signalled to me by raising his arms straight out and lowered them like calm down and get off the table.
It turned out to be a blast thanks to my coworker Barry 🙂

Sad about what? Why? Drinking or something unrelated to that night?
Pent up emotions and alcohol lowered your inhibitions / defenses?
Nah, alcohol has never affected me that way.10 Reply 3.2K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I used to get sad sometimes. Most of the time I was a happy drunk.

Only when I'm already sad, deep inside, alcohol acts as a revealing potion for me, and I assume it works the same for other people

10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Many people do. Alcohol reduces inhibitions. Is there some underlying sadness in your life?
10 Reply- 15 d
Are you sure it was the alcohol and not the people, the location, the ambiance, the conversation, the type of drink, a song or smell,?
10 Reply - 15 d
As I look back and think deep as I'm drinking yeah but I know crying is not going to fix anything so I just shake it off and enjoy my drinks

Yep, alcohol is a depressant. It can make you jovial for a while, and angry as well. Everything in moderation!
10 Reply 1.7K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I rarely drink when I do I go quiet. Not sad though.
10 Reply- 16 d
In my experience (which isn't much) it could be the drink bringing something out of you. And it also depends on the drink, I think the last thing I would be sad about would be drinking wine.
