How does some people still have their friends from childhood?

I’m honestly jealous of people who still has contact with their childhood best friends in adulthood. Most people don’t even have friends from childhood or those who are not bad influences.

I have NO friends from childhood or high school anymore. This girl I was best friends with from ages six to 14 when she decided to ditch me for the popular kids and some we just went out separate ways. Some I still talk to from time to time. I have friends from college which I’m so blessed to have.

My new high school friend and I kind of went out separate ways. We still talk but we haven’t seen each other since 2022. She lives in another state and I did visit her two years ago. My coworker says she still has contact with her childhood friends since the age of three and she’s like 38. Wow! So lucky I’m jealous.

yeah reminds me of a bad experience i went through years ago when i tried to establish relations again with a former friend of mine, but i wrote him off now, he doesn't matter to me anymore, i gave up on him, our friendship lasted from preschool towards the end of 8th grade, i tried to get in contact with him again after high school, he wanted nothing to do with me, just ignored me.

i know this is off topic, but what do you do for work? what is your job or occupation? and are you an only child or do you have siblings?

I have no idea, currently I don't think I have any friends in real life, cause nobody would be there for me if I needed them.

I’m so sorry. Yeah people are mostly fake and it’s thought to make friends when you’re an adult.

When I was in school I bullied like crazy. I learned that most people hated me and looked out for themselves. I attended Churches for my whole life until 2020, and realized that those people only like people who are exactly like them. They have no interest in helping to bring someone who is a little different like me into the fold. I learned from working, that people there don't want to be my friend either. After quitting my job, nobody wanted to stay in touch. I learned that people on the internet just come and go. So there is no stability in anything.

It was easy for us to stay friends since we lived in the same area from kindergarten to university.

I do have contact but i moved abroad and so did they. So its mainly just the happy new year msgs or happy birthday msgs. Some of them i only get to see once in 4 5 years or so when coincidentally we happy to be back in our hometown.
