I'm talking about mostly specific sports. I've gone skiing exactly twice in my life and both times I was really bad at it and once I got hurt. Ever since then I've avoided doing it even though it's an activity that many of my friends engage in and try to encourage me to engage in. I don't need the humiliation.

Well, I'm not big on getting hurt, so that might stop me from continuing to do something if I were likely to hurt myself routinely by doing it. But being bad at something has never made me feel humiliated and has, in fact, led to so pretty hilarious results, not only for me, but for the other people around me. So, if we all got a good laugh out of it, why not be bad at it again? Maybe I'll get better and it'll become just a "remember when" story my people tell from time to time.
it depends on what it is. Ifit is something I care about I would practice until I could be passable at it.
