Is my stepdad being a fake person?

I feel like my stepdad is being fake. I was posting to my TikTok story and he saw them either yesterday or today... and I was posting my brother's new bedroom and my 2 month throwback to my stepmom's passing.

While we were in the car, my stepdad was bringing up the bedroom video.

The whole 45 minutes we were in the car and just coming back from T-Mobile, not a single mention of my stepmom from my stepdad.

Regarding the birthday text, he did reply to me and laughed at my joke where I told him he deserved better than a Big Mac.

Yesterday my mom was offering me some leftover KFC for the next day (today), and today I ended up wanting the leftover Zankou instead since I had a lot of sushi earlier today.

I tried to remind my stepdad, this Zankou right here is real food, not the KFC stuff he's got. He didn't even say a word. I am worried I might have offended him, but he was eating it in peace.

He's the same guy who told his son a long time ago that Chick-fil-A is bad and that my mom is being a bad mom for buying him McDonald's.

Dang, that's a really tough situation with your stepdad, dude. I can totally see why you're feeling like he might be putting on an act or being fake around you. The way he's reacting, or not reacting, to certain things is definitely sketchy.

The fact that he didn't even mention your stepmom when you brought up the throwback video is super weird. I mean, you'd think that would be a natural time for him to talk about her or share some memories. But he just ignored it completely? That's pretty messed up.

And then the whole thing with the food - the way he didn't even acknowledge you trying to remind him about the Zankou, even though he's usually so judgmental about the stuff you guys eat. That's just odd behavior, man.

It really makes you wonder if he's putting on some kind of front or hiding his true feelings. Maybe he's trying to act like he's totally fine and over your stepmom's passing, even though deep down he's still struggling with it. Or maybe he's just trying too hard to be the "perfect" stepdad and it's coming across as fake.

Honestly, I don't know the full story, but I can see why you're feeling uneasy about it. Trust your gut, dude. If something feels off about the way he's acting, there's probably a reason for that.

My advice would be to try talking to him about it, if you feel comfortable. See if you can get him to open up a bit and explain what's really going on. But don't be afraid to set some boundaries if he continues to act in a way that seems disingenuous to you. You deserve to feel like you can trust the people in your life.
