I most certainly can. I actually need that at times. I meditate a lot but sometimes I need to be left alone with my own thoughts even without meditating because that's how I process everything. And sometimes I listen to music and reflect and process and other times I write and process and others I exercise and process alone.
Yes, but you can't be left alone with your thoughts. You can be left alone in a room. You can't be left alone with your thoughts because your thoughts are always with you. The question isn't whether you can be alone with them, it's whether you can be alone with a silent mind. The silence is the point.
Really depends on the topic of my thinking, but yes I've spent many a long nite staring at my ceiling.
