Trending & News Hear hear, Dr. Pepper. That's a pet peeve of mine, too.
When I was growing up, they built housing developments at the end of the Long Beach (CA) airport runway. Then the people who moved into the houses started complaining about the noise of the airplanes taking off.
That's like buying a house next to train tracks and then complaining about the sound of the freight trains. Or like buying a house that's a mile from a pig farm and complaining about the smell.
They never did due diligence or asked why the house was selling for such an affordable price.
I have no sympathy.
On the other hand, if someone builds a disturbing business near an existing community, the residents have every right to complain.
I recently heard about a giant AI data center that got built near a quiet community. The loud, 24/7, low-frequency humming was actually making people sick.
Or when they decide to build a mine in a formerly peaceful area.
So, I guess it depends on who was there first.
And then there are businesses that externalize their costs by dumping pollutants into air, water or soil and destroying formerly clean environments and quality of life.
Thank you dr. pepper. it used to drive me nuts when after a certain hour passenger jets could only use x amount of power when departing LAX lest they disturb the sleep of a community which bordered the runways. Apparently the airport just magically appeared one day.
Same around here for LaGuardia & jfk. Poof! They just magically appeared one day from the nether!!

The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship in America. Every 4th of July the ship sails out into the harbor and turns around in it's slip. While it is underway it fires it's cannons. This has gone on for over a hundred years. The yuppies that bought the condos across the street do not like the noise and are raising a stink about it.
I would take them out on the ship and make them walk the plank.
I'll join you giving them some encouragement from my sabre & cutlass!
@DrPepper12 there is a pier in Portland Maine that has been used by the fishing industry for 100 years. There ar a couple of fish marlkets there and many boats are berthed there. There is also an ice business and a bait company. A bunch of lawyers thought it would be cool to relocate on the ocean so when one of the businesses went under they bought thebuilding and renovated it to be their new offices,.
Then they started to bitch that the bait company stunk up the place.
The friggin lawyers used to courts to go after the bait company so they finally moved out.
One should always check for these, either pre-existing or planned, as well as if the property is under HOA authority.
HOA is the devils creation. Anyone who buys into an HOA deserves what they get.
You can’t complain if it’s obvious when you are buying it and the realtor is supposed to make people aware of these things
Agreed. Do not buy houses in black areas.
